For those, who otherwise do not take any WW8 courses, the lecture Fundamentals of Materials Simulation (FuMS) is mandatory for material scientists.
The idea is that everybody who has a Msc degree should have some basic knowledge and experience with computer simulations!
Fundamentals of Materials Simulation gives an overview of simulation methods operating on length scales from the atomistic to the continuum, including
- Molecular synamics
- Monte-Carlo simulation
- Phase field method
- Dislocation models for plasticity
- Techniques for transferring information across scales
It is a "light-version" of MuSim I/II for those who do not have any basics in programming/modelling yet.
There are only tutorials (unbenoteter Schein only, no other exams) in which some basic programming tasks must be solved.
